Why We Lose Our Gains

Updated: Mar 22, 2019

Right off the bat (Yes, I was a cricketer in my early days) let me tell you that the above statement is completely untrue, but at least I got your attention. No, please, don’t go, I promise you it gets better!!!

We have all had our ah-ha moments, peak experiences and times with clear, deep connection to something bigger than ourselves, which lies within us all.

These experiences can be life changing, no doubt about that!

The sudden or gradual shift in perspective, viewpoint/point-of-view, and/or consciousness, can catapult us to the next plateau of understanding of who and what we are at the deepest level!

These epiphanies are signposts in our lives; reminders that we are on the right track – “Don’t stop!” “Don’t stop!” “Keep going!”

When we ignore these profound hints and messages, we tend to deviate from our path and inevitably get encouraged back, either gently, or with a large and painful thud from the baseball bat!

The trick to life is for us to find our purpose for being here and stick to it, through thick and thin, lest we get a sharp reminder from the ‘Universe’ that we have deviated.

Okay, got that out of the way, so now back to our heading – Why we lose our gains. A more appropriate heading would be – Why We Think We Lose Our Gains!

As we have these deep-seated moments of truth, they expose to us what is already there, not some new discovery, but an uncovering of what lies deeply inside, awaiting our effort to pull back the veils of illusion that we are a mere meat body that has thoughts, emotions, a life story and that we live to about 80 or 90 years and then disappear in a puff of smoke, when we gasp our last breath.

Nothing could be further from the truth!

That which we seek, yearn to know, find, uncover, in a never-ending pursuit and driven by a quiet, persistent voice inside hinting that there is more to life than meets the eye, that - has always been there!

It was never not there!

It was never born and will never die!

It is the very essence of who we are, the animator of this physical form, the awareness that lies beyond our thoughts, emotions, life story and the false idea that we are separate from it, others and everything else.

We are not!

We are all connected to everything and every body.

Quantum Physics has told us this truth, the sages of old have shown us and at the deepest level, we know in our hearts this to be true.

The only problem is the mind, which cannot fathom, understand or even conceptualise the essence of Oneness – an absence of twoness!!

Something that is infinite with no beginning or ending – Come on give me a break the mind protests, it had to start somewhere at sometime and will inevitably end some day!”

Yes this is true of the dualistic, finite and tangible universe, but not so of the non-dual realms that abound.

Like Wi-Fi signals, just because we don’t see them, doesn’t mean they are not there!

Whether we are aware of it or not, we have a foot in both camps – Dual and Non-Dual.

The Physical Universe (Duality)

So coming back on track, we never lose the gains we have experienced, we merely cover them up with limiting beliefs, negative, ego-speak and doubts.

Once we connect the dots about each of these universes we simultaneously inhabit, life becomes just that little bit less complicated!

The Non-Dual realm contains everything and nothing simultaneously (“Whoah…!” shouts the mind!), it is the realm of consciousness, intuition, Presence and knowingness.

The Non Physical Universe (Non Dual)

If we can become comfortable about not knowing everything, not having to be in control of every minute detail in our lives, not doing, having and just BE, no judgement, no resistance or lack of acceptance, we begin to see the joy in every aspect of live.

Like an intelligent, grand plan unfolding as it does, we can sit back and enjoy the ride and by choice, move into action or not.

Freedom of choice is a wonderful thing.

Choose Beingness.

Choose to BE present in the Presence

Choose Authenticity

I dare you!
